Cirque Du Soleil – Corteo at Moda Center

Since 1984, Cirque Du Soleil has been at the top of circus entertainment productions. It took the world by storm and has been influential in continuing the relevance of circus performances in pop culture. Their utilization of creativity by combining theatre and circus is revolutionary, which is true to their mission – "to invoke the imagination, provoke the senses and evoke the emotions of people around the world."

Through the years, the touring production has been coming out with many shows, which are performed worldwide. Most of which are successful. One of these spectacular shows is "Corteo," a crowd favorite since its first production in 2005. Thanks to the direction of Daniel Finzi Pasca. The show was a groundbreaking release, with more than 200,000 people watching it in its first few months.

"Corteo," the Italian word for a procession, is about a clown who witnesses his funeral and reminisces about his past life. Even with its gloomy premise, the entirety of the show is a celebration. Part of its inspiration came from the exhibition "The Grand Parade: Portrait of the Artist as Clown," shown at the National Gallery of Canada, and Federico Fellini's film "I Clowns."
