Cirque Du Soleil – Corteo at Moda Center

Cirque du Soleil has been producing world-class circus shows since 1984. As an international phenomenon, Cirque du Soleil helped ensure the survival of circus acts all over the world and elevate its status as a staged art. Over the years, the famous ensemble's revolutionary creativity presented through their creativity of blending theatre and circus was able to invoke the imagination, stimulate the senses, and stir people's emotions worldwide.

The traveling production has released numerous shows throughout the years, all of which have been adored and loved by audiences. One of these shows is the fan-favorite "Corteo." A big hit since its debut in 2005, "Corteo" is one of the magnificent shows by Cirque du Soleil that took inspiration from The National Gallery of Canada's exhibition "The Grand Parade: Portrait of the Artist as Clown" and Federico Fellini's film "I Clowns." The show broke new ground the moment it premiered — with over 200,000 viewers in its first few months.

Under the direction of Daniel Finzi Pasca, Corteo follows the story of the aftermath of a beloved clown's (Mauro) death. Derived from the Italian word "Corteo," which means a procession, the show showcases the celebration of Mauro's life instead of mourning over his death. As he witnesses his own funeral, Mauro reminisces about his past life. The production shows this through a series of breathtaking performances that only Cirque du Soleil can deliver. Despite the show's bleak concept, it's ultimately a joyous occasion.
