Cirque Du Soleil – Corteo at Moda Center

Two young men, quit college, originally started out as a duo of agile street performance in 1979 in Quebec. To raise the necessary finance to start their performing company, they embarked on a walk of some 56 miles on a pair of stilts. They were successful in securing their first finance, and proceeded to toured Quebec extensively until1983. In June 1984 they registered their own entertainment company and held their first public performance. During the 1990s and 2000s, the company grew exponentially, branching out into other industries, until they employed nearly 5000 people, performing 19 shows in over 300 cities internationally on six continents, boasting their title as being the largest contemporary circus provider in the world. The Company was generating an annual income of almost 1 billion dollars. In March 2020, Covid arrived, and the company made the decision to shut down its entire operations. They, like so many others, suffered extreme losses. Since the summer of 2021 the company has been opening operations slowly, and so not all the original residential and international troupes have been resuscitated, but this current batch of extremely talented and experienced performers are back, from the Covid lockdown, and are busy reviving their acts, performances and contracts. The shows are not mere circus acts and trapeze artists – but story tellers of all walks of life based on real life events told through the circus medium of dance, acrobats, ice performances and musical infusions.
