Louis C.K. is an American stand-up comedian, actor, writer, producer, director, and editor. After years on the comedy circuit and a half-hour HBO comedy special in 1996, C.K.'s career began taking off in the early 2000s, as a writer for comedy shows and comedians such as David Letterman, Conan O'Brien, and Chris Rock. During this time, he directed two features, Tomorrow Night (1998) Pootie Tang (2001), before he starring in the short-lived HBO television sitcom Lucky Louie in and 2006. C.K. became a household name with the airing of Louie, an FX show which C.K. stars in, writes, directs, and edits. C.K. has won a 2012 Peabody Award and six Emmy awards, as well as numerous awards for The Chris Rock Show, Louie, and his stand-up specials Live at the Beacon Theater (2011) and Oh My God (2013). He has won the Grammy Award for Best Comedy Album twice, and Rolling Stone ranked C.K.'s stand-up special Shameless number three on their "Divine Comedy: 25 Best Stand-Up Specials and Movies of All Time" list. 2016 saw C.K. creating and starring in his web series Horace and Pete.
