The Harlem Globetrotters have shared a legacy unlike any other, one that makes global headlines in the basketball sphere. Sure, we’ve got legendary teams around the globe, but these Globetrotters have performed teamwork, showmanship, entertainment, and natural athleticism like no other. Sharing moments of astounding basketball skill with theatrical entertainment in one, these fellas have changed the game forever.
“There are very few brands in any business, let alone sports, that cannot just withstand but grow over the course of 100 years, and the Harlem Globetrotters are on the top of that global list,” shared Keith Dawkins, President, Harlem Globetrotters & Herschend Entertainment Studios, via an official press release. Sharing how they’ve been working hard to evolve and reach new audiences, “for this year’s tour we want to make sure that there’s something for everyone, from the families and fans that turn out in the thousands every year to those young people just experiencing the work our amazing and talented athletes are doing for the first time. The result will be a basketball and entertainment experience like no other, a literal once in a century event for all to enjoy.”
Founded in 1926, the team started performing exhibitions for the Savoy Ballroom, and later on took the name “Globe Trotters” by 1928 as a group of players formed a new team. The Globetrotters went on to become one of the best basketball teams in the country, often making headlines for their wins and outstanding games. Driven by technique and showmanship, every single moment in the court has audiences holding the edge of their seats as the teams whips out iconic moves and surprising twists.
Currently, the team comprises elite men and women who hold 60+ Guinness World Records, 18 of which was just set in the previous year. With global shows on their book, the team is all set to show everyone what they’ve got.
