Yeat

Moda Center at the Rose Quarter

Be advised if you head to the Moda Center in Portland on June 30th you won’t be having a heart attack; it’s just the beats that Yeat’s gonna be putting down. Get your ski mask and get ready for the 2093 experience! Yeat, one of the most influential hip-hop artists of the last few years, is once again on tour promoting his new album 2093. He’s coming to the home of the Trail Blazers to show Portland some love.

Artists these days usually put out an album and spend years on tour promoting it. Yeat’s proven, however, that he’s currently one of the hardest workers in the business. He’s put out a full album for another year in a row, and he’s on a new tour. The green lights are still a thing, but the Live from 2093 tour promises to provide a completely different show.

BNYX will also be gracing the stage at the Moda Center. He’s been working closely with Yeat on a number of songs in the last few years. They’ve collaborated on songs like “Out of the Way,” “No More Talk,” and “IDGAF.” Expect BNYX to be more of a special guest alongside Yeat than an opening act.

It may seem like there are plenty of seats at the Moda Center. Don’t be fooled, though; you want to hit the get tickets button early. This is bound to be one of the hottest shows coming to Portland all summer.

Yeat Tickets from $63

If we being real, sometimes there’s too much autotune on these tracks to really grasp what Yeat is saying! He’s one of the few names in hip-hop that’s going to get away with that. It’s part of the setup that he brings to both the songs and his shows. He’s become synonymous with not only the ski mask but the green lighting. Those green lights are still heavily featured in the artwork for his new album, 2093. This is one of the rare cases where an already-established artist hits it even bigger with a new album in such a short span. It’s a win-win that he’s coming to the Moda Center to promote 2093. That album alone has 23 tracks, so there’s no telling how long Yeat’s going to be on stage that night.

Don’t get too spooked if you see some dudes in ski masks. They’re going with the flow here. That’s something that the fan base has adopted, along with some of the other style statements that Yeat himself has brought to the mainstream. The experience at his concerts is part rave, part rap battle, and something in between that you just can’t put your finger on until you stand there as he’s playing live. That last day of June in Portland is a great opportunity to grasp all this.

Apart from the tracks on the new album, which are definitely going to be part of the set list, his collab with Drake, “IDGAF,” is likely going to make the cut as well. “Out of the Way” is another song from a different album that fans would love to hear live. As mentioned, BNYX is going to be in the house; expect these songs to be part of the show. From the moment he steps on stage, what you’ll feel all through your body are those beats. That’s the staple that has gotten Yeat to the top. It really makes him one of those acts that you want to see live to really understand what the hype’s all about. Especially if you’re not a massive fanboy at this point.

Hopefully Yeat’s got his own speakers for the show. Otherwise, those beats are going to break the ones the Trailblazers use. The Moda Center is going to be lit on June 30th. It’s a massive arena, but Yeat might just be one of those acts that packs the house; who knows? You gotta be there this summer to find out.
